Nomadland encabeza las nominaciones de los premios Bafta

Entregados desde 1948, los Bafta con los años se han acomodado como uno de los hitos claves de la temporada de premios de Hollywood. Incluso si sólo cuatro de los últimos diez ganadores del reconocimiento a Mejor película han coincidido con los Oscar, los galardones continúan siendo un punto influyente para Norteamérica.

Este 2021 las distinciones de la Academia británica podrían volver a coincidir con sus pares estadounidenses, en vista de que la máxima nominada de los Bafta es Nomadland. El filme de la cineasta Chloé Zhao –y protagonizado por Frances McDormand– viene de consagrarse como máximo ganador de los Globos de Oro y los Critics Choice Awards, y se perfila como probable triunfador de los Oscar.

En competencia por premios como Mejor película, Mejor director, Mejor actriz principal y Mejor guión adaptado, Nomadland iguala en siete nominaciones con el filme británico Rocks.

Dirigido por Sarah Gravon, el largometraje sobre un grupo de adolescentes también entra como Mejor director, una categoría que por primera vez tiene cuatro mujeres: además están las cineastas Shannon Murphy (Babyteeth) y Jasmila Žbanić (Quo vadis, Aida?), junto al danés Thomas Vinterberg (Another round) y el estadounidense de ascendencia coreana Lee Isaac Chung (Minari).

La diversidad es uno de los sellos que marca la entrega de este año, que también cuenta con cuatro títulos empatados en seis candidaturas: Mank, Promising young woman, The father y Minari. Luego siguen con cinco The dig y The Mauritanian y con cuatro se encuentran Another round, Calm with horses, Judas and the black messiah, News of the world y Sound of metal.

El agente topo, en tanto, era uno de los 15 títulos preseleccionados en la categoría de Mejor película de habla no inglesa, pero finalmente no entró entre las cinco finalistas. Ahora el filme de Maite Alberdi espera por conocer las nominaciones a los Oscar –el próximo lunes 15–, donde sigue en carrera por las distinciones a Mejor película internacional y Mejor documental.

La ceremonia de los Bafta se realizará el domingo 11 de abril.
